Pacers Upend Mighty Macs In Penalty Strokes

Immaculata University women's field hockey team went the distance, but fell to Marywood University 1-0, in penalty strokes on Monday, October 22, in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  It was the final game of the 2007 season for the Mighty Macs.

After both teams played through a scoreless 70:00 and than two overtimes of scoreless action, the game turned to a stroke-off.  Both teams are allotted five penalty strokes and on the third try Marywood's Caity Hadzimichalis tallied the game-winner.

Junior Bridget Dougherty collected 27 saves, including four during the stroke-off for Immaculata.  Stephanie Ziemski recorded 23 saves, including all five penalty strokes to earn the win.

The Pacers outshot the Mighty Macs 48-35 and held a 19-7 advantage in corners.

Immaculata completes to 2007 season with a mark of 3-15 overall and 3-8 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC).
