Defense Propels Immaculata To 75-52 Win Over Neumann

Sophomore Dominique Murray collected a double-double as Immaculata University upended Neumann College 75-52, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Monday, January 29, in Immaculata, PA.

Murray recorded 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Mighty Macs (10-8, 6-4) to a key conference win in Alumnae Hall. Senior Meg Legere also added a double-double with a 16-point, 10-rebound effort, while fellow senior Mary Kate Pawlowski registered 15 points. Sophomore Kasey Hicks amassed eight points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Immaculata held the Knights scoreless until the 13:19 of the first half, when they converted a free throw. The first field goal of the game for Neumann came at 6:30 of the opening half. The Mighty Macs held the Knights to 9.6% (3-31) shooting from the floor en route to a 34-12 halftime lead.

Immaculata jumped to a 41-19 lead, the largest of the game, at 15:47 of the second half, however the Knights chopped it down to 52-37 with 7:02 remaining. But the Mighty Macs pushed it back up to 60-40 with 4:55 left, en route to a 75-52 victory.

Dorothy Rozier, Brittany Whetts, Dominique Thompson each recorded nine points for Neumann (14-5, 8-2), while Whetts collected a team-high 11 rebounds.
