Mary Kirchner is in her first season as the Mighty Macs' head women's volleyball coach in 2025.
Kirchner led the Mighty Macs to an 11-17 record (4-3 AEC) in her first season with the Mighty Macs. Despite the team starting 3-11, Immaculata finished 8-5 across the remainder of the regular season to claim an AEC playoff berth. The Mighty Macs' season came to a close at Marywood in the conference semifinals. Under Kirchner's leadership, Mia Esposito earned All-AEC First Team.
"Mary will do great things with our women's volleyball program," said Paul Murphy, Immaculata's Director of Athletics and Recreation. "Her past success at the high school level, her knowledge of the game and connections within the volleyball community will serve her well as she transitions to coaching at the college level. We are excited to welcome Mary into the Immaculata Athletics family and will support her in every way possible."
Kirchner returned to her alma mater after spending three seasons as the girls' varsity volleyball head coach at Strath Haven High School. Under her leadership, Strath Haven finished second in the Central League each year and advanced to the District 1 Championship match in 2024.
Kirchner served as head girls' volleyball coach for East Coast Power Volleyball in King of Prussia from 2021-23. She brings more than 20 years of scholastic and youth coaching experience to the Mighty Macs volleyball programs.
Kirchner is a USAV Certified official, a PIAA Certified official, is USAV IMPACT trained, and has completed USAV Safe Sport training. Kirchner served as a USAV Official at the National Northeast Qualifier in 2022-23.
Outside of coaching Kirchner is employed as an English as a Second Language Teacher in the Springfield School District, working with students from grades 2-12 since 2019.
"As a graduate of Immaculata, I know first-hand what an Immaculata degree can do for students," said Kirchner. "To be able to play a part in creating an incredible experience on the volleyball court for the next generation of young athletes is an honor."
Kirchner is no stranger to Immaculata, having graduated from the University in 1992. While at Immaculata, Kirchner played basketball and tennis.
