Joseph Puleo was named Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Track Teams and Fitness Center Coordinator in February of 2022.
Puleo brings a wealth of experience to his position, having spent 10 years as Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s track and field teams at Rutgers-Camden from 2004 through the 2013 seasons. He served as Head Coach at the CISM Military World Championships and as Head Coach at the USMC Regional Running Program. Puleo is an Author of Running Anatomy Books, and a member of the international advisory committee at New Balance Running.
During his career Puleo has been a technology consultant to a 2021 Olympic Gold Medalist in sprints. He coached the 2018 USATF Masters Champion (Distance), the 2017 and 2018 San Francisco Marathon winner (Distance), the 2016 USA Olympic Trials 7th place Javelin thrower, 2008 USAT National Duathlon Champion (short course), and a 2003 Olympic trials qualifier in distance.
In addition to his duties with the Track and Field teams, Puleo will serve as Fitness Center Coordinator, overseeing all aspects of the operation of the fitness center and employee scheduling. Puleo will also serve as Assistant Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country teams in the fall.
