Andrew (A.J.) White has been chosen as the new Fitness Center Coordinator and the head men's and women's track and field and cross country coach at Immaculata University. White joins the Mighty Mac Athletic Staff after serving as a Graduate Assistant Coach and Game Operations assistant at Regis College for each of the last two seasons.
In his first year at Immaculata, the cross country and track programs experienced growth under White. The women's cross country team finished third at the Atlantic-East Championships as Celsey Golato earned First Team All-Conference Honors with a third-place finish in the race. The women's team also finished second at the Atlantic East Preview Meet (8/31), Penn State Abington Invitational (9/14) and Dan Talbot Open (9/27).
During the indoor track season, White helped Connor Cummings break the school records in the weight throw and shot put at the historic Armory Meet. On the women's side he oversaw Golato break the school record in the 1,000-meters and helped Francesca Pollander rank third in school history in the shot put with a personal-best throw at the SU Challenge.
At Regis, White was responsible for planning and implementing practices for the throws event group, as wells as planning and implementing the strength training sessions for the throws and distance event group. While at Regis, White coached 20 DIII New England Qualifiers, 9 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Champions, and was part of the coaching staff that led the track and field program to 3 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Titles. White also assisted the track and field program and athletic department in recruiting prospective student athletes, managing game day activities including home track and field meets among other administrative responsibilities.
In addition to his coaching experience at Regis, White has also served as an intern in the Athletics Compliance office at Gardner Webb, as a Stadium Operations Associate with the Charlotte Knights, and as Athletics Alumni Relations Intern at Regis.
Prior to joining the staff at Regis, White was a student-athlete at Big South conference member Gardner-Webb where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management in addition to his Masters of Business Administration while also competing as a thrower on the Bulldog Track and Field squad. During his time as a Bulldog, White was named to the Big South All-Conference team four times and Big South All-Academic team three times while also earning 2017 Big-South Outdoor Track and Field Men’s Scholar Athlete of the Year and 2017 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Co-Outstanding Field Performer for his efforts in the classroom and in competition.
White holds his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Gardner-Webb University, which he earned in 2015 in addition to his Master of Business Administration Gardner-Webb, which he earned in 2017. Most recently, White completed in Master of Science in Organizational and Professional Communication from Regis College earning that degree in May 2019.
White also possesses NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification, USATF Level 1 coaching certification, and CPR/First Aid Certification through the American Red Cross.
