Maria Ciekielski

The Immaculata University Department of Athletics and Recreation has named Maria Ciekielski (Oristaglio) as the new men’s and women’s head golf coach, the third in program history.  Ciekielski becomes the first head coach of the women’s team set for its inaugural season in the fall of this year.

Ciekielski brings to Immaculata over ten years of experience throughout several capacities within the golf industry, most recently as a PGA Relationship Manager at Charity Golf International in Dallas, Texas. Prior to her stint there, Ciekielski was a golf professional at several golf clubs in both New York and Florida, including a four year stretch as the PGA Teaching Professional at GolfTEC in Carle Place, New York.

While at GolfTEC, Ciekelski worked with clients ranging from middle school juniors to club champions to implement custom design golf improvement plans that incorporated long-term goals, improving physical abilities and fitness regimens within lesson work. Through her extensive lesson programs, Ciekelski’s clients saw golfers lower their 25 handicaps down to single digits. She also assisted the Hofstra University men’s golf team – who used GolfTEC as its practice facility - with swing techniques, course management strategies and mental preparation.

Ciekielski also held the title of Assistant Golf Professional at Boca Greens Country Club (Boca Raton, Fla.), Tallgrass Golf Club (Shoreham, N.Y.), Huntington Crescent Club (Huntington, N.Y.), The Legacy Golf and Tennis Club (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and The Broken Sound Club (Boca Raton, Fla.). Aside from directing club tournament operations, another aspect of her duties at each of those destinations was serving as the golf shop manager, where Ciekielski was directly involved with inventory control, seasonal buying and budgeting.

Ciekielski has a PGA Class ‘A’ Certification and earned her Bachelor of Science in Business from Mount Saint Mary’s University in 2005, where she was a four-year member of the women’s golf team and two-time captain.

She got her start in coaching as a volunteer assistant with Lynn University in the fall of 2005.
