Kathleen Womelsdorf

Kathleen Womelsdorf enters her fourth season at the helm of Immaculata men's and women's swimming programs, which began competition during the 2018-19 academic year.

The men’s team went 1-1 on the 2020-21 season as Womelsdorf lead the team to a fourth place finish at the Atlantic East Championships meets. Meanwhile, the women’s team finished 0-2 on the season, placing fourth overall in the three day Atlantic East Championship meets.

In the 2019-20 season Womelsdorf led the men's team to a pair of duel victories and helped freshman Conor Farrell earn the program's first All-Conference Honors. Farrell set the program record in the 1650-free with a time of 18:11.70 at the Atlantic East Championships to earn second team honors. At the Championship Meet, the men's team recorded 11 top-10 finishes and set seven program records while the women's team registered eight top-10 finishes and broke four program records. Following the 2020 season John Batley was named to the PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Team after setting record times during the 50-back, 200-back and 200-IM throughout the year.

Under Womelsdorf's leadership of the men's and women's swimming programs in their respective inaugural seasons, the Mighty Macs captured ten top-three event finishes at the first-ever Atlantic East Conference Championships in addition to the men's program's first-ever dual meet win at Stevenson on January 18, 2019.

Womelsdorf's immediate responsibilities are focused on the recruitment of student-athletes to build the men's and women's swimming teams. She will be attending local and regional meets, as well as spending time on campus meeting with potential student-athletes.

Womelsdorf is familiar with building a swimming program as she was a key part in reinstating the swimming teams at both John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School and Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia. She served as an assistant coach at Roman for 12 seasons and the head coach at Hallahan for four years, helping train and manage the teams along with duties of scheduling meets and transportation and conducting fundraising events and service projects.

Womelsdorf stepped down from her coaching positions following the 2016 season to focus on being the assistant athletic director at Roman Catholic High School. In this capacity, she was able to get a broad prospective of an athletic department working with all 17 of Roman's varsity sports. She reviewed student-athlete's academic performance, organized the athletics calendar and transportation to away competitions, worked with coaches on budgets, and coordinated the use of outside facilities.

Womelsdorf graduated from Temple University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Communications and Spanish. While at Temple, she swam on the Owls' swim club, and began coaching at Roman during her senior year.  She went on to earn her master's degree in Education from Holy Family University in 2012.
