The 2015-16 season marks Tana Thomas' 11th season as head coach of Immaculata University's golf team.
Thomas, a three-time CSAC Coach of the Year in 2009, 2010 and 2013, has guided the Mighty Macs to seven tournament wins during her first 10 seasons. The most recent win at the 2013 CSAC Championship gave the program its first conference title and propelled Immaculata into the NCAA Division III Championship for the first time.
She has mentored eight all-conference selections, including three First Team All-CSAC selections. Chris Ware earned First Team All-CSAC honors in 2008, Zack Robie captured First Team All-CSAC honors in 2011, and Aaron Harper was named to the First Team All-CSAC in 2013. Todd Boisvert, was a three-time Second Team All-CSAC selection (2010, 2012 and 2013), Peter Kotula was named in 2014 to the Second Team All-CSAC, and Harper took home Second Team All-CSAC accolades in 2015.Â
The 2012-13 season was one of many firsts for Immaculata with its CSAC Championship victory, winning its first team title at an invitational and setting the record for lowest team-round in program history. In addition to winning the CSAC title, the Mighty Macs were victorious at the Cyclone Invitational during the fall for their first win at a tournament with a field larger than four teams. The Mighty Macs posted their lowest team score in program history at the 2013 Rutgers-Camden Spring Invitational with a 309, breaking the previous mark of 312 which Immaculata had set just a season before.
Prior to 2013, the Mighty Macs' best finish in a conference championship was a third-place finish at the 2011 CSAC Championships with a 645 composite score.
During the 2008-09 season, the squad received the CSAC Team Sportsmanship Award as voted on by the players on each conference team. The team also received the CSAC 3D Award in 2015.
Immaculata also brought home the trophy at two invitationals during the 2008-09 campaign, winning the Arcadia Dual and the Centenary Invitational.
In 2008, Thomas helped guide Immaculata to its first tournament title, as the Mighty Macs won the Alvernia College Tri-Match on April 10 with a 342.
Thomas was the inaugural coach for the women's team at Northern Arizona University from 1996-98, where she guided the team to a pair of Big Sky Conference championships, and two berths in the NCAA Division I West Regional. Prior to her time at Northern Arizona, Thomas began the women's program at Smith College, a Division III program.
Thomas received her bachelor of arts degree in Humanities from Arizona State University in 1992. She was a member of the Sun Devils' 1990 NCAA Championship team.
