This Week In IU Athletics

IMMACULATA, Pa. – It was another busy week for the Mighty Macs as Immaculata Athletics competed across five sports from September 28 through October 3, highlighted by a pair of Atlantic East Conference-opening victories, a record-setting performance from women's cross country, and a strong week from several individual performers.
 
Men's soccer opened its final Atlantic East campaign with a 2-1 victory at Centenary, while women's soccer erupted for six goals in a 6-1 victory over the Cyclones. Women's cross country captured the team title at the Cairn Highlander Invitational, led by Aubrey Donahue's new 6K course record. Field hockey also opened its inaugural United East Conference campaign during the week, while women's volleyball earned a 3-1 victory over Keystone.
 
Immaculata Athletics now looks ahead to another busy week featuring 10 contests across six teams, including five conference games and three home contests at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Women's volleyball returns to action on Tuesday evening when the Mighty Macs travel to Penn State Schuylkill for a 6 p.m. non-conference matchup. Immaculata enters the week following a 3-1 victory over Keystone on Sept. 29.
 
Wednesday, October 7

Men's tennis returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when the Mighty Macs travel to Penn State Brandywine for a 3:30 p.m. match.

Women's soccer continues Atlantic East Conference play Wednesday evening with a 5 p.m. road matchup at Marymount University. The Mighty Macs enter the week after opening conference play with a 6-1 victory at Centenary.

Men's soccer returns home Wednesday evening for a 6 p.m. Atlantic East Conference matchup against Marymount University. The Mighty Macs opened conference play with a 2-1 victory at Centenary on Saturday.

Women's volleyball will make its second road trip of the week Thursday evening when Immaculata visits Penn State Brandywine for a 7 p.m. matchup.

3 p.m. | Draper Walsh Stadium
 
Field hockey returns home Friday afternoon to host Manhattanville University in a non-conference game at 3 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
 
Saturday, October 10
 
⚽ Women's Soccer vs. Gwynedd Mercy University – Pink Out
11 a.m. | Draper Walsh Stadium
 
Women's soccer returns home Saturday morning for an 11 a.m. Atlantic East Conference matchup against Gwynedd Mercy University. The contest will serve as the Mighty Macs' first AEC home game of the season and will feature a Pink Out at Draper Walsh Stadium.

12 p.m. | Gwynedd Valley, Pa.
 
Men's soccer closes the week Saturday at noon when the Mighty Macs travel to Gwynedd Mercy University for another Atlantic East Conference contest.
 
THE WEEK IN REVIEW
 
⚽ Women's Soccer
Immaculata 6, Centenary 1
 
Women's soccer opened Atlantic East Conference play in impressive fashion on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 6-1 victory at Centenary University.
 
The Mighty Macs received a spectacular offensive performance from sophomore Gracie Repici, who scored twice and added two assists to finish with six points. Repici helped set the tone offensively as Immaculata jumped out to an early lead with Marissa Sozzi scoring a pair of goals, and continued to build its advantage throughout the afternoon.
 
The six-goal performance marked another impressive offensive showing for the Mighty Macs, who entered conference play having scored 18 goals through their first eight contests.
 
Immaculata improved to 6-3-0 overall, and 1-0 in Atlantic East play with the victory.
 
The Mighty Macs will remain on the road Wednesday at Marymount before returning home Saturday morning to host Gwynedd Mercy for the first AEC home contest of the season.
 
⚽ Men's Soccer
Immaculata 2, Centenary 1
 
Men's soccer opened its final Atlantic East Conference campaign with a 2-1 victory at Centenary on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Mighty Macs received goals from Michael Prall and Brady Derkosh as Immaculata to earn their second victory of the season. Immaculata finished the contest with a 19-16 advantage in shots and put eight shots on target.
 
The victory moved the Mighty Macs to 2-7-0 overall and 1-0-0 in Atlantic East play.
 
Immaculata returns home Wednesday evening to host Marymount before traveling to Gwynedd Mercy Saturday afternoon.
 
🏃 Women's Cross Country
Immaculata Wins Cairn Highlander Invitational
 
Women's cross country returned to competition Saturday morning and captured first place at the Cairn Highlander Invitational with 40 points, edging FDU-Florham by two points.
 
Senior Aubrey Donahue led the way in record-setting fashion, winning the individual title in a new 6K course-record time of 24:15.5. Donahue broke her own previous course record of 24:26.5, which she established in 2025.
 
Jayla Gross added a sixth-place finish in 28:14.6, while Kyara Farjardo finished 10th in 30:11.6 to round out the Mighty Macs' top three.
 
The Mighty Macs' 40-point total placed them ahead of FDU-Florham (42) and Stevenson (45) in the team standings.
 
🏃 Men's Cross Country
Men's Cross Country earns 3rd Place Finish at Cairn Highlander Invitational
 
Men's cross country also returned to action Saturday at the Cairn Highlander Invitational following a three-week break from competition. The Mighty Macs competed in the men's 8K as they continued preparations for the championship portion of the season earning a third place overall finish. Declan McGorry led the Mighty Macs, finishing second overall with a time of 30:32.8.
 
The Mighty Macs will next compete at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle on Oct. 17 at DREAM Park in Logan Township, N.J.
 
🏑 Field Hockey
Penn State Harrisburg 3, Immaculata 0
 
Field hockey opened its inaugural United East Conference campaign Friday evening at Penn State Harrisburg.
 
The Mighty Macs battled throughout the opening three quarters and entered the fourth quarter trailing just 2-0 before the Lions added a late goal to secure the 3-0 victory.
 
Immaculata mounted an offensive push late in the contest, continuing to battle until the final whistle in its first United East Conference matchup.
 
The Mighty Macs return to action Wednesday at Lancaster Bible before hosting Manhattanville Friday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.
 
🏐 Women's Volleyball
Immaculata 3, Keystone 1
 
Women's volleyball returned to the win column Tuesday evening with a 3-1 victory over Keystone College at Alumnae Hall.
 
The Mighty Macs won by set scores of 25-13, 18-25, 25-10 and 25-12.
 
First-year Madi Kyle led all players with 14 kills and added eight digs, while Mel Mann recorded nine kills and hit .318. Tara Hirschtritt posted a double-double with 19 assists and 10 digs, and Adriana Ventura anchored the defensive effort with 19 digs and four service aces.
 
Immaculata then traveled to Bryn Mawr on Wednesday evening, where the Mighty Macs fell in straight sets to the Owls.
 
The Mighty Macs will return to action Tuesday at Penn State Schuylkill before traveling to Penn State Brandywine Thursday evening.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
 
⚽ Gracie Repici – Women's Soccer
Repici delivered a six-point performance in Immaculata's 6-1 Atlantic East-opening victory at Centenary, scoring two goals and adding two assists.
 
⚽ Marissa Sozzi – Women's Soccer
Sozzi scored twice in the first three minutes of Immaculata's 6-1 Atlantic East-opening win at Centenary on Saturday. First multi-goal game of her career.
 
🏃 Aubrey Donahue – Women's Cross Country
Donahue won the Cairn Highlander Invitational while setting a new 6K course record with a time of 24:15.5, breaking her own record from 2025.
 
⚽ Michael Prall – Men's Soccer
Prall scored the eventual game-winner for the Mighty Macs in their 2-1 Atlantic East victory at Centenary and finished with six shots, including three on goal.
 
⚽ Brady Derkosh – Men's Soccer
Derkosh opened the scoring in the second half of Immaculata's 2-1 victory at Centenary.
 
🏐 Madi Kyle – Women's Volleyball
Kyle led all players with 14 kills in Immaculata's 3-1 win over Keystone while adding eight digs.
 
🏐 Adriana Ventura – Women's Volleyball
Ventura recorded 19 digs and four service aces in the victory over Keystone, continuing her strong defensive play for the Mighty Macs.
 
🏑 Alexis Andrada – Field Hockey
Andrada continued her strong offensive stretch for the Mighty Macs, scoring Immaculata's lone goal in the team's loss at Widener on September 30. The goal came on a restart and marked her third goal over the previous two games. Andrada now has 56 career points, moving her into fourth place on Immaculata's all-time scoring list.
 
🏃Declan McGorry – Men's Cross Country
McGorry led the Mighty Macs, finishing second overall with a time of 30:32.8 in the Cairn Highlander Invitational. His second-place finish helped the team finish third overall.
 
MIGHTY MAC OF THE WEEK
 
🏃 Aubrey Donahue – Women's Cross Country
Aubrey Donahue is this week's Mighty Mac of the Week after leading Immaculata women's cross country to a team victory at the Cairn Highlander Invitational on Saturday.
 
Donahue captured the individual title in the women's 6K, finishing in 24:15.5 to establish a new Cairn Highlander Invitational course record. Her performance broke her own previous course record of 24:26.5, set at the same event in 2025.
 
The senior's record-setting performance helped the Mighty Macs claim the team championship with 40 points, edging FDU-Florham by two points.
