Baseball Falls to Neumann 6-5 in Ten Innings, to End AEC Tournament Run

WINCHESTER, Va.- The Immaculata baseball team rallied twice in the late innings to force extra innings, but it was not enough as they fell to second seed Neumann 6-5 in ten innings and were eliminated from the AEC Tournament.

Nick Turnage was 2-5 with two RBIs to lead Immaculata. Joey Mazzone led off the ninth inning with a triple and scored the tying run on a single by Matt Passerini. Aidan Jackson kept Immaculata in the game throwing 4.1 innings in relief allowing only one unearned run.

Immaculata, who had their three-year reign as AEC Champions ended today, complete their 2025 season 13-27 overall, and were 7-8 in Atlantic East Conference play.

How it Happened

  • Immaculata took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Ryan Struble singled to center field to score Sal Serici

  • Neumann scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, and two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead.

  • In the top of the eighth, Steven Theisen hit a one-out double to right field that advanced Matt Passerini to third base. Nick Turnage followed with a two-run single that scored Passerini and Theisen. Immaculata tied the score at 4-4 later in the inning when Will Kelley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Turnage.

  • Neumann took a 5-4 lead with an un-earned run that was scored on a wild pitch.

  • Joey Mozzone led off the top of the ninth with a triple to right field. Mazzone scored on a base hit to left field by Matt Passerini to tie the score at 5-5.

  • Neumann threatened in the bottom of the ninth, but Alexander Singer got a strike out to end the inning stranding the potential winning run at third base.

  • Neumann would walk it off in the bottom of the 10th with back-to-back doubles to win 6-5.

Top Mighty Mac Performers
