IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata softball team earned a split with Penn State Abington in their home opener doubleheader on Tuesday at the Immaculata Softball Field. Immaculata won the opening game 7-1 and fell in game two 9-7 in game called after five innings due to darkness.
Jess Oldham broke two IU program single game records hitting three home runs and had 12 total bases. Oldham went 4-for-7 in the double header with four runs scored, four home runs, and seven RBIs.
Emma Mercadante improved to 3-0 for the season with the compete game win in the first game.

Immaculata is now 5-3 overall this season, and Penn State Abington is 4-4 overall.

After trailing 1-0 after the top of the first inning, Immaculata evened the score in the bottom of the first inning and took the lead for good in the bottom of the third. Immaculata broke the game open with three runs in the bottom of the fourth scoring three runs and added two more in the sixth inning.
Emma Mercadante went the distance earning the win, allowing only six hits, one earned run, and had six strikeouts.

How it Happened
- Penn State-Abington opened the scoring when Marlena Hacker led off with a home run to left field to take a 1-0 lead.
- Immaculata tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the first when Rylee Martin doubled to left field to score Bryele Anthony.
- Immaculata took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning when Rylee Martin singled to right field to score Bryele Anthony again.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning Bryele Anthony double to left field to score Maddy Formica, and Jess Oldham homered to left field to increase the Immaculata lead to 5-1.
- PSU-Abington threatened with a pair of runners on in the top of the sixth, with one out. Emma Mercadante then struck out the final two batters to end the threat.
- Rylee Martin hit a two-run home run to right center in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring Steph Kelly to extend the lead to 7-1.
- Immaculata closed out the win 7-1.

The Immaculata softball team fell to PSU Abington 9-7 in game two of the doubleheader in game called due to darkness after five innings.
Jess Oldham set multiple program records going 3-3 with a program single game record, three home runs, five RBIs and a walk to set a program single game record for total bases with 12. Immaculata battled back in the game multiple times, but the last inning rally fell short.

How it Happened
- Jess Oldham opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to left field to give Immaculata the 1-0 lead.
- Penn State Abington scored three runs in the top of the second inning to take a 3-1 lead, and added a pair of runs in the top of the third inning to extend the lead to 5-1.
- Jess Oldham hit her second solo home run of the game to left field. Ava Marchese hit a fly ball to center field that the center fielder dropped to score Rylee Martin. Lily Hagan hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Steph Kelly to pull Immaculata within one run at 5-4.
- Marlena Hacker hit a three-run home for PSU Abington in the top of the fourth inning to extend the lead to 8-4.
- Jess Oldham hit her record setting third home run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning to left field scoring Emily Davis to make the score 8-6.
- Penn State Abington got an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning when Gretchen Yanss hit a pinch-hit solo home run to center field to increase the lead to 9-6.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, Jess Oldham came to the plate with the bases loaded with two outs. PSU Abington pitched around her, and Oldham walked scoring Naila Valdez to cut the lead to 9-7. Immaculata's rally fell shot on a flyout to right field.
- The game was called due to darkness after the fifth inning which made it a complete game with PSU Abington earning the 9-7 win.
