Women's Lacrosse Defeats Notre Dame of Maryland, 13-2, on Senior Day

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team scored 30 seconds into the game and never looked as the cruised to a 13-2 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland in their home opener on Saturday afternoon. Fifth year Jacki Murray scored five goals and added one assist, senior Kelsey Caldarelli scored one goal and added three assists, and senior Ava Hoffman scored three goals.
 
Saturday was Senior Day for the Immaculata women's lacrosse team as they honored their seniors Kelsey Caldarelli (Elkton, MD / Elkton), Ashley Finkbiner (Douglassville, Pa. / Daniel Boone), and Ava Hoffman (Sewell, N.J. / Our Lady of Mercy Academy) for their Mighty Mac careers.
 
Scoring
-Jackie Murray led Immaculata with five goals, followed by Ava Hoffman with three goals, Carley Oberg with two goals, Kelsey Caldarelli, Ashley Finkbiner, and Alexa Marczak with one goal each.
-Kelsey Caldarelli had three assists, Addison Yackel, Carley Oberg, and Jacki Murray each had one assist.
 
Defensive
-Jacki Murray had 10 ground balls, four caused turnovers, and six draw controls.
- Ava Hoffman had nine ground balls, two caused turnovers, and four draw controls. Addison Yackel had seven ground balls, and four caused turnovers.
-Ashely Finkbiner had five ground balls, and three caused turnovers, Carley Oberg had five ground balls. Alexa Marczak had five ground balls, and one caused turnover. Megan Kelly had one ground ball and three caused turnovers.
-Abigail Guarneri made three saves on three shots on goal, with two ground balls. Claire Dunfee had a caused turnover and a ground ball in 15 minutes of playing time.

How it Happened
  • Immaculata opened the scoring 30 seconds into the game when Alexa Marczak scored her first collegiate goal. Jacki Murray scored 0:34 seconds later assisted by Kelsey Caldarelli ton increase the Immaculata lead to 2-0. Carley Oberg scored, and Ava Hoffman scored consecutive goals to increase the lead to 4-0. Kelsey Caldarelli scored assisted Carley Oberg, and Jacki Murray scored her second goal assisted by Caldarelli as Immaculata led 6-0 after the first quarter.
  • Jacki Murray scored her third goal of the game assisted again by Caldarelli with 2:48 remaining in the second quarter. Carley Oberg scored with 1:11 remaining, and Jacki Murray scored her fourth goal in the final seconds as Immaculata led 10-0 at halftime.
  • Ava Hoffman completed her second hattrick of the season with an unassisted goal with 10:43 remaining in the third quarter, and Ashley Finkbiner scored off a pass from Jacki Murray with 6:11 remaining in the third quarter as Immaculata carried a 12-0 into the fourth quarter.
  • Notre Dame of Maryland scored early in the fourth quarter as Cailyn Motta pulled one back for the Gators. Jacki Murray scored her fifth goal of the game assisted by Addison Yackel. The assist was Yackel's first collegiate point. Cailyn Motta scored Notre Dame's second goal with 1:45 remaining. Immaculata went on to close out the win 13-2.
