Four Records Fall during Friday's portion of Atlantic East Championships

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.- The Immaculata men's and women's swimming teams continued surging through the Atlantic East Championship meet on Friday, as the conference concluded events 5 through 12. The men's quintet added 77 points to their cumulative total, as the women's team collected 108 points on the evening. More notably, four Immaculata program records were broken on the women's side in the form of three individual finishes and one relay. The Mighty Macs look ahead to Saturday, with events 13 through 22 in store.
 
Session 3 Summary
Events: Finals for the 500-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Individual Medley, 50-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Freestyle Relay
  • (PR) Keira Wiley finished fourth and broke Immaculata's program record in the 500-yard freestyle behind a time of 5:36.78. In the same event, Liz Ferguson placed ninth place with a time of 5:50.35, as Rebecca Ambrose placed 13th with a time of 6:17.50, and Jess Kiederling earned 14th with a time of 6:49.97.
  • In the men's 500-yard Freestyle Gabriel Bocaj finished in 7th place with the time of 5:22.94 as Aidan Gall clocked 6:22.40, placing him 11th in the event.
  • (PR) Breaking the school record with the time of 2:20.04, Delanie McPeak came in 4th place in the Women's 200-yard Individual Medley. Joella Moyer placed 10th with the time of 2:30.53. 
  • Mike DeMattei placed 8th in the men's 200-yard IM behind a time of 2:09.74.
  • (PR) Ashley Batejan finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle with a program record of 26.98 seconds. Bella Hernandez followed in 11th place, clocking 31.26 seconds, as Valeska Buestan's 40.08 placed 13th and Ava McEntire's 40.47 earned 14th.
  • Zach Crawford (23.44 seconds) and Lucas Lau (27.33 seconds) competed in the 50-yard Freestyle, finishing in 8th and 11th place respectively. 
  • (PR) The women's quad of Joella Moyer, Delanie McPeak, Keira Wiley, and Ashley Batejan just missed medal position in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, but set the Immaculata program record with their time of 1:47.27.
  • The men's lineup of Gabriel Bocaj, Lucas Lau, Mike DeMattei, and Zach Crawford earned a spot on the podium with a third place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, clocked at 1:34.92.

  • The Immaculata women's swimming team collected 108 points on the day, raising their two-day total to 170, good for third place in the team standings. 
  • The Mighty Macs' men's team earned 77 points on Friday, upping their point total to 107. The team sits fourth place in the cumulative standings.
