IMMACULATA,Pa.- The Immaculata softball team split their doubleheader with Widener this afternoon taking game one 8-6 while dropping game two 13-2.
GAME ONE: IMMACULATA:8 WIDENER:6
Trailing 3-0 after two innings, the Mighty Macs were able to take advantage of a Widener defensive miscue to cut the lead to 3-1. The fourth inning would be a big one for the Macs, as
Peyton McGowan would double in
Rylee Martin to make it 3-2.
Carlee Karcher would double in McGowan the very next batter to tie things up.
Bryele Anthony would give the Macs their first lead with an RBI single to plate Karcher.
Emma Pinto would bring across
Naila Valdez to extend the Immaculata lead to 5-3 in the 4
th.
In the 5
th inning,
Peyton McGowan would again double in Martin. Karcher would follow that up with a two-run blast to left center field to extend the Immaculata lead to 8-3.
Widener would score in both the 6
th and the 7
th but their comeback attempt would not be enough.
Riece Onorato picked up the win in the circle for Immaculata, striking out four in a complete game performance while surrendering four earned runs.
GAME TWO: IMMACULATA: 2 WIDENER: 13
Immaculata would start out strong at the plate in the bottom half of the first, with
Bryele Anthony and
Kaitlyn Carter both singling to lead things off.
Jess Oldham would drive them both in with a two RBI double to right field.
Lauren Carboni would pick up the other hit for the Mighty Macs, while Carboni and
Grace Truppi both reached on walks.
Nadia Bhuiyan and
Courtney Gable combined to surrender five earned runs in 5.2 innings work.
Emma Mercadante threw a scoreless .1 of an inning in relief as well.
The Immaculata softball team is back in action at the Immaculata Softball Field when they host Delaware Valley for a doubleheader on Thursday, April 25
th beginning at 3:00 PM.
