GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's lacrosse team (8-5, 2-1 Atlantic East) defeated Gwynedd Mercy 23-12 on Saturday for their second straight Atlantic East Conference win.
Immaculata was led by seniors
Liza Laxton with two goals and eight assists.
Jacki Murray with six goals and one assist, and
Tessa Liberatoscioli with five goals and one assist. Junior
Ava Hoffman scored five goals, and sophomore
Cara Strickland had three goals.
Carly Oberg and
Andrea Petito scored one goal apiece.
Immaculata goalkeeper
Abigail Guarneri made seven saves in goal for eighth win of the season.
With her first goal of the game
Jacki Murray registered her 200
th career point for Immaculata which places her in fifth place all-time in program history.
Liza Laxton registered her 100
th career assist on her fifth assist of the game in the second quarter.
Liza Laxton now stands at 103 career assists which is second all-time in program history.
Immaculata opened the scoring early in the first quarter as
Cara Strickland scored 0:14 into the game on an assist from
Liza Laxton. Immaculata would get goals from
Liza Laxton,
Tessa Liberatoscioli,
Ava Hoffman, and
Jacki Murray as the built an early 5-0 lead. After a goal by Gwynedd Mercy to make the score 5-1. Immaculata got goals from
Tessa Liberatoscioli,
Andrea Petito,
Cara Strickland, and
Jacki Murray to lead 9-4 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Immaculata would get goals from
Jacki Murray,
Ava Hoffman,
Cara Strickland,
Carly Oberg, and
Tessa Liberatoscioli to take a 20-8 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half Immaculata would go on to close out the win 23-12.
