IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team (15-7, 5-0 Atlantic East) took both games in their Atlantic East Conference doubleheader vs Neumann.
Game One:Â Immaculata 8 Neumann 0
Starting Pitcher
Jason Hughes pitched all seven innings earning the shutout scattering four hits and striking out 11 to raise his record to 4-1 on the season.
Immaculata opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when
Ryan Struble hit a solo home run to left field. Immaculata would extend their lead in the bottom of the third inning when
Ryan Struble hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored
Joey Wright.
Jay Lawrence would follow with a two-run single to right field that scored
Josh Crowding and
Joey Sacco to put Immaculata up 4-0.
Immaculata would add on runs in the fourth inning on a singe by
Joey Wright that scored
Frank Margiotta, and in the fifth inning when Margiotta scored on a fielder's choice.
In the fifth inning, Josh Crowing hit triple to right center to score
Joey Wright, and
Frank Margiotta hit a double to right field in the sixth inning to score
Justin Klemick as the Macs took the seven inning first game 8-0.
Game Two:Â Immaculata 12, Neumann 2
Senior catcher
Josh Crowding got things started for Immaculata in the bottom of the first inning with a two out solo homer run to left field. Immaculata would add on a second run in the inning when
Steven Theisen hit a triple to right field that scored
Joey Sacco as the Macs took an early 2-0 lead.
The Mighty Macs would add on to their lead in the bottom of the second inning when
Frank Margiotta drove in
Justin Klemick on a fielder's choice, and
Joey Wright singled to centerfield to score
Jay Lawrence.
Immaculata would break the game open in the bottom of the six inning when
Matt Passerini drove in a pair of runs with a pinch hit single.
Joey Wright would follow with a 2 RBI double to right center,
Josh Crowding hit a hit an RBI single to left field.
Steven Theisen then scored Crowding with an RBI single.
Neumann would score a pair of run in the top of the seventh inning to cut Immaculata's lead to 10-2. The Mighty Macs would respond in the bottom of the eight inning when
Steven Theisen drove in
Joey Sacco and
Erik Molinaro with a double to right center. Theisen would go 4-for-5 in game two with four RBIs.
Starting pitcher
Ryan Crowell raised his record to 4-1 on the season going six innings allowing six hits, two earned runs, and striking out five.
Mason Keller pitched three scoreless innings in relief allowing only one hit and struck out five to earn a save.
The Immaculata baseball team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 11
th when they visit Neumann University for the final game of their three game Atlantic East series at 3:00 PM.
