Laxton Sets Program Record as Women's Lacrosse Defeats Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.-  The Immaculata women's lacrosse team earned their first win of the season defeating Eastern University on Saturday morning 20-17. The Mighty Macs were led by Junior Liza Laxton who scored four goals and set a new women's lacrosse program single game record with eight assists and tied a program record for points in a game with 12.

In the first quarter, Eastern took an early 1-0. Immaculata got on the board when Ava Hoffman scored with 8:03 remaining in the quarter. Immaculata would get additional goals in the first quarter from Ava Hoffman, Jacki Murray, Kaitlyn Klitchko, and Liza Laxton. Eastern would lead 8-5 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Immaculata would get goals from Carly Oberg scored twice, and Kaitlyn Klitchko and Jacki Murray each scored. The second quarter would end with the game tied at 9-9.

In the third quarter Kaitlyn Klitchko scored with 14:22 remaining to put Immaculata up 10-9. Eastern responded with two goals to take an 11-10 lead, before Liza Laxton scored to tie the game at 11-11. Eastern would retake the lead with 7:57 remaining in the quarter. Immaculata responded with goals from Ava Hoffman, Liza Laxton, and Jacki Murray to take a 14-12 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Kaitlyn Klitchko led the Immaculata attack scoring three goals in the quarter, and Jacki Murray scored twice. Liza Laxton added a goal as Immaculata closed out the win 20-17.

Immaculata was led offensively by Liza Laxton with four goals and eight assists, Kaitlyn Klitchko with six goals and two assists, Jacki Murray with five goals and one assist. Ava Hoffman scored three goals and had one assist, and Carly Oberg had two goals. Ava Hoffman picked up four ground balls and had three caused turnovers and 11 draw controls. Jacki Murray had four ground balls and had 11 draw controls.

The Immaculata women's lacrosse team will be back in action on Wednesday, March 15th when they host Widener University at 7:00 PM.
