IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team fell to Alvernia 18-8 on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.
In the first quarter Alvernia opened an early 2-0 lead, before
Kaitlyn Klitchko scored to get the Mighty Macs on the board on a free position shot with 9:37 remaining in the quarter. Alvernia would score the final four goals of the quarter and led 6-1 heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter Alvernia would extend their lead to 8-1, before
Carly Oberg scored her first goal aa a Mighty Mac with 11:59 remaining in the quarter.
Cara Strickland followed with her first goal as a Mighty Mac with 6:32 remaining in the quarter.
Jacki Murray would score two goals late in the quarter,
Kaitlyn Klitchko assisted the second goal. Alvernia would take a 9-5 lead into the halftime break.
In the third quarter,
Carly Oberg scored her second goal of the game, and
Jacki Murray scored her third goal to pull Immaculata back with in three goals trailing 10-7 with 8:39 remaining in the third quarter. Immaculata won the draw control and had a chance to pull within two goals.
Liza Laxton's free position shot was saved by the Alvernia goalie. Alvernia would score the final three goals of the third quarter and carried a 13-7 lead into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Alvernia quickly extended their lead to 18-7.
Kaitlyn Klitchko scored late on a pass from
Jacki Murray. Alvernia would close out the win 18-8.
Jacki Murray led Immaculata offensively with three goals, four points, and eight groundballs.
Kaitlyn Klitchko scored two goals and added an assist.
Carly Oberg score two goals, and
Cara Strickland scored one goal for the Macs.
The Immaculata women's lacrosse team will be back in action on Wednesday, March 1
st when they host Swarthmore College at Draper Walsh Stadium at 7:00 PM.
