Murray Scores 10 Points in Win over Gwynedd Mercy

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Jackie Murray scored ten points on the day as the Immaculata women's lacrosse team defeated Gwynedd Mercy 20-10 on Saturday. The Mighty Macs improve to a 2-1 record in Atlantic East Conference play on the season with a 6-7 overall record.
 
The Mighty Macs and Griffins found themselves tied in a 3-3 game after the first quarter. Jackie Murray scored two goals in the first five minutes of action for the Macs while Kaitlyn Klitchko picked up their third goal of the period with under four minutes remaining on the quarter.
 
Klitchko, Murray, and Liza Laxton then scored three straight goals for the Macs in a three-minute span in the second quarter. The Griffins then scored two goals to cut the Macs' lead to 6-5 with five minutes remaining in the half. Murray and Laxton then both scored within a minute of each other to regain the Macs' three goal lead. Murray scored one additional goal in a man-down situation on the half before the Griffins scored with 70 seconds remaining as the Macs led the Griffins 9-6 at halftime.
 
The Mighty Macs extended their lead quickly to start the second half, scoring three goals in the first three minutes of the quarter courtesy of Erynn Kriebel, Tessa Liberatoscioli, and Murray.The Macs and Griffins then each scored a goal before the Griffins scored with under a minute remaining on the quarter. Liberatoscioli, however, responded with two goals of her own before the end of the quarter, giving the Macs a 15-8 lead going into the fourth.
 
Murray then scored her sixth goal of the day just a minute into the fourth in a man-down situation. Gwynedd Mercy responded with two goals of their own over the next two minutes but were then shut down for the remainder of the contest. Immaculata scored four additional goals in the final 11 minutes of action on their way to a 20-10 victory over Gwynedd Mercy.
 
The Mighty Macs recorded 51 shots on the day versus the Griffins' 23, keeping the Griffins on the defense for a majority of the game. Murray led the Macs offensively on the day with 10 points on eight goals and two assists. Laxton and Klitcho also aided the Macs with six and five points respectively on three goals and three assists and three goals and two assists. Liberatoscioli also recorded three goals on the day while Ashley Hankin scored two and Kriebel picked up one.
 
In goal, Ashley Finkbiner recorded nine saves while earning the win for the Mighty Macs.
 
The Macs will return to action next on Saturday, April 23rd as they compete against Marymount in their final home matchup of the regular season.
