SCRANTON, Pa. – The Immaculata men's tennis team won a close matchup against Marywood to kick off Atlantic East Conference play on Wednesday afternoon. The Mighty Macs defeated the Pacers 5-4 overall on the day.
The Mighty Macs' first doubles team of
Nicholas Fleming and
Jason Watts won their match 8-1 while the Macs' second doubles team of
Jeremy Brown and
Nicholas John lost 8-2. Meanwhile, the Macs' third doubles team of
Sean Chalmers and
Alex Polidoro won by forfeit.
Moving into singles play, Watts and Fleming both won their respective first and second singles matches, each with scores of 6-2, 6-2. Brown then dropped his third singles match 6-3, 6-0 while John dropped fourth singles 6-1, 6-1. In fifth singles, Polidoro dropped his matchup 6-2, 6-0. Chalmers closed out the day for the Macs with a win by forfeit in sixth singles.
The Mighty Macs will return to action on Saturday as they host Neumann in a 12:00 P.M. matchup.
