COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Two records were broken on the day as the Immaculata men's track & field team competed in the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus on Saturday.
Peter McHugh began the day for the Mighty Macs, competing in the 60-meter dash. McHugh finished in 13
th overall with a 7.57-second finish, rebreaking the program record on the race. McHugh had broken the record back in December at the Bow Tie Invitational, but now improves upon his time by 0.04 seconds.
Next, the trio of
Chris Mendoza,
Nicholas Speakman-Viggiano, and Alexander Polidoro competed in the 200-meter. Mendoza finished in 10
th place overall with a time of 24.32 while Speakman-Viggiano and Polidoro finished in 27
th and 33
rd with respective finishes of 25.53 and 26.94.
Mendoza, McHugh, Speakman-Viggiano, and Polidoro next competed in the 400-meter. Mendoza earned 14
th place overall with a 55.56 finish while McHugh finished in 24
th with a time of 57.17. Speakman-Viggiano and Polidoro, meanwhile, earned 27
th and 31
st place with times of 58.76 and 1:00.84.
Gerard Faia and
Kieran Brackin were next to compete for the Mighty Macs, earning 41
st and 42
nd place respectively in the 800-meter with times of 2:23.06 and 2:25.90. Brackin was then joined by
Alex Poli in the one-mile run. Brackin finished in 36
th with a time of 5:42.00 while Poli earned 38
th with a time of 5:49.96.
Louis Faia next earned 19
th place in the 3000-meter for the Macs with a time of 14:10.60.
Ivan Zavala-Zavala then earned 16
th place in the 5000-meter with a time of 16:42.15.
Moving into relays, the Macs' 4x200 team of McHugh, Mendoza, Speakman-Viggiano, and Polidoro finished in ninth place with a program record-setting time of 1:39.79. The same quartet also competed in the 4x400, finishing in 13
th place with a time of 3:55.92.
Four Mighty Macs competed in the shot put to close out the day.
Joseph Collins III finished in 13
th place overall with an 11.09-meter mark, a new personal best.
Tyrin Hawkins,
Dylan Daywalt, and
Joseph Soliwoda-Doan, meanwhile, finished in 19
th, 20
th, and 23
rd place with respective marks of 9.68, 9.61, and 8.38 meters.
The Mighty Macs will close out their indoor season next Saturday as they travel to Susquehanna University for the Susquehanna Invitational.
