To our Immaculata University Community,
I would like to address our fan policy for athletic contests during the Spring 2021 season.
To protect the safety of our student-athletes, athletic staff, and our broader campus communities, the Presidents' Council of the Atlantic East Conference approved a fan restriction at all practices and games this spring, except for allowing family members of senior athletes to attend Senior Day games. The Athletic Directors supported this action.
Given that our conference covers three states and countless cities, towns, and boroughs—all with different COVID-19 restrictions and risks—the Presidents and Athletic Directors felt that unified and consistent measures were necessary for protecting the safety of our student-athletes, athletic staff, and others.
We are therefore asking that the family and friends of our student-athletes refrain from coming to campus to watch games. Our Office of Campus Safety will strictly enforce this policy.
I know this decision is disappointing for our loyal fans, but we plan to live stream as many home athletic contests as possible at
www.gomightymacs.com throughout the season for anyone who wishes to watch competitions in real-time. We will continue to monitor conditions, both on campus and in our surrounding community, and let our student-athletes know immediately if the fan restriction can be lifted in any capacity.
We continue to do our very best to serve the student-athletes, coaches, campus community, and extended Immaculata University Athletics family, and we genuinely appreciate your understanding of this very difficult decision.
If I can offer any further assistance, please feel free to contact me.
Respectfully,
Paul Murphy
Director of Athletics and Recreation
