RADNOR, Pa. – Kevin Lyons set a program record as the Mighty Macs men's swimming team dropped their dual-meet versus Cabrini on Monday night. Immaculata lost 117.5 to 38.5, earning first place in two events.
Lyons swam in the 100-yard freestyle, recording a time of 52.39, two seconds faster than the program record of 54.59 set in 2019. Lyons placed third in the race and was joined in the 100-freestlye by
Daniel Thiel and
Marchello Barile. Thiel and Barile finished in fifth and sixth respectively with times of 1:03.22 and 1:09.22.
Lyons and Thiel joined with teammates
Jeremy Brown and
Joseph Duddy to compete in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet finished in first place with an overall time of 1:43.92.
Lyons, Duddy, and Thiel each also competed in the 50-yard freestyle. The trio earned second, fifth, and sixth places respectively with times of 22.99, 24.90, and 27.61.
Duddy also earned first place in the 100-yard breaststroke. He was joined by Barile, who finished in second. The two swimmers' respective times were 1:10.46 and 1:21.79. Duddy's time was a personal best and just shy of a second off of the program record set in 2019 of 1:09.60.
Brown finished third in the 200-yard freestyle for the Mighty Macs, notching a time of 2:09.03. He also competed in the 200-yard individual medley, where he earned third place with a time of 2:32.62.
Immaculata will return to action for the Atlantic East Championships on April 23
rd and 24
th.
