SCRANTON, Pa. – Records were broken as the Immaculata Mighty Macs swimming team kicked off their 2020-21 season with a dual-meet against Marywood on Saturday.
The 200-yard medley relay team of
Colleen Blakelock,
Kathryn DeHaven,
Breanna Kratz, and
Emily Meyer raced for a time of 2:13.45, beating the program rocord of 2:15.48 set in 2020, coming in second in the race.
Blakelock also broke two program records on her own accord. First, she came in first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.88, a full second faster than the previous record set by
Macy Green in 2019.
Aileen Zimmerman also participated in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in fourth with a 1:20.96 time.
Blakelock also set the program record in the 200-yard backstroke with her first-place time of 2:22.28. Her time in the 200 breaks the record of teammate
Breanna Kratz set last year by nine seconds. Kratz also competed in the 200, placing third with a 2:44.37 time.
In addition to her record-breaking performances, Blakelock also took home first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a 2:28.48 time. Kratz placed third in the 200 IM, posting a 2:47.96 time.
Meyer and Kratz earned third and fourth place, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle with respective times of 2:24.11 and 2:31.33. Meyer also placed third in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:23.98.
DeHaven and
Maya Schilp earned third and fourth place in the 100-yard breaststroke with respective times of 1:32.85 and 1:46.79. DeHaven also competed in the 200-ard breaststroke, coming in third with a 3:17.21 time.
Schilp was joined by teammate
Cassandra Thiel in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle. They posted fourth and fifth respectively in the 50-yard with times of 34.67 and 41.01. They placed third and fourth in the 100-yard as well with times of 1:19.83 and 1:29.51.
Zimmerman also represented the Mighty Macs in the 500-yard freestyle, coming in third with a final time of 6:52.75.
The quartet of DeHaven, Schilp, Meyer, and Zimmerman closed out the day for Immaculata by placing second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, earning a time of 2:02.82, just 0.17 seconds off the Marywood relay team for first place.
The Mighty Macs came in second place overall on the meet, losing to Marywood by a final score of 148-73.
Immaculata will next compete this coming Monday as travel to Radnor, Pa. for a dual-meet with Cabrini at 6:30 PM.
