ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team broke the program record while
Gabriel Bocaj broke an individual program record on Saturday as the Immaculata men's swimming team competed in a quad meet hosted by St. Mary's.
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of
John Batley,
Gabriel Bocaj,
Daniel Thiel, and
Kevin Lyons broke the program record on the event, registering a time of 1:36.97 on their way to second place overall. Lyons and Thiel were also joined by
Jeremy Brown and
William Lorenzo in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in fifth with a time of 2:02.96.
Bocaj, meanwhile, added another program record to his name. This time competing in the 500-yard freestyle, Bocaj placed second overall with a time of 5:14.67. Bocaj also competed in the 50-yard freestyle, earning a time of 23:24 and placing in fourth. Thiel joined Bocaj in the 50-free, finishing eighth with a time of 26.36.
Batley recorded two fourth place finishes individually on the day for the Mighty Macs. First, in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:11.69 and then in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.53.
Meanwhile, Brown placed fourth overall in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 12:51.37. In the 100-yard freestyle, Brown finished seventh overall with a time of 59.99.
In addition to both relays, Lyons also competed in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in sixth overall with a time of 2:05.57.
William Lorenzo closed out the day for the Mighty Macs, earning a new personal record in the 100-yard breaststroke. His time of 1:31.42 placed him seventh overall.
Immaculata swimming is back at it next on Saturday, November 11
th. The Mighty Macs will travel to our nation's capital for a dual meet against Gallaudet University.
