BALTIMORE, Md. – The Immaculata men's swimming team split results today in their tri-meet, defeating Goucher 134-55 and losing to Elizabethtown 184-66.
John Batley took two first-place finishes for the Mighty Macs in the 50-yard backstroke and the 100-yard backstroke. In the 50-yard, he finished with a time of 26.94 while
Jeremy Brown finished in fifth with a time of 33.14. In the 100-yard, he finished with a time of 58.60. He also finished in third in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:00.81.
Brown also competed in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing in third place with a 12:51.80 finish. The distance swimmer also finished in fifth place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:12.15.
Gabriel Bocaj finished in first in the 200-yard freestyle for Immaculata with a time of 1:52.90. He also finished in second place in the 100-yard butterfly, a half of a second behind the leader at 58.07. Bocaj was joined by
William Lorenzo in the 100-yard breaststroke finishing with respective times of 1:09.22 and 1:32.05 for fourth and seventh place finishes. Bocaj broke the program record in each of his three individual reaces in the 200-freestlye, the 100-butterfly, and the 100-breaststroke.
Kevin Lyons also finished in first place for the Immaculata, earning it with a 23.43 time in the 50-yard freestyle. Lorenzo also competed in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in seventh with a time of 27.68. Lyons also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.50, 1.27 seconds off the leader.
Daniel Thiel also finished in fifth with a time of 58.50.
Thiel also competed in the 50-yard butterfly, finish with a time of 30.93 for sixth place. Lorenzo, meanwhile, finished in sixth place in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 38.06.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Batley, Bocaj, Lyons, and Thiel finished with a 1:50.97 time for a third place finish for the Macs. The time set a new program record in the 200-yard medley relay. Lorenzo, Thiel, Brown, and Lyons finished the day for the Macs in the 200-yard freestyle, placing fifth with a time of 1:44.49.
Immaculata will return to action next Saturday for a tri-meet hosted by St. Mary's.
