Second Half Dooms Women's Lacrosse against Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- A strong second half by Elizabethtown dropped the Mighty Macs 19-8 on Tuesday evening. The Blue Jays (4-2) limited Immaculata to one goal in the second half to hold onto the win.

Maura Murray scored a team-high three goals while Kayla Cadden added two more goals and had an assist for the Mighty Macs (2-4). Ashley Hankin and Anna DiDonato each registered two points with a goal and an assist each.

Elizabethtown scored the first six goals of the contest to take control of the match in the early goings. Murray stopped the skid for the Macs with a goal as Immaculata trailed 6-1 with 20 minutes left in the opening half.

Following a goal by Elizabethtown's Kate Ziegler, Cadden and Layne Kennedy scored to make it 7-3 in favor of the Blue Jays.

Immaculata kept up the momentum and ended the half on a 4-0 run, scoring six of the final seven goals to make it a one-goal deficit at the half. The Blue Jays out shot Immaculata 20-11 in the first half but held the slim 8-7 lead at intermission.

The Blue Jays exploded in the final 30 minutes and outscored Immaculata 11-1 to hold on for the 19-8 victory. Murray scored the lone goal in the second half as the Mighty Macs only registered six shots in the final frame.

Molly Gallagher registered a team-best four ground balls as Murray also had a huge role on defense and forced three turnovers to go along with three ground balls.

Immaculata now has an eight day layoff and will return to Draper Walsh Stadium on March 18th to face Eastern at 6 p.m.
