KINGSTON, Pa. - The Immaculata University baseball team was unable to climb out of an early hole Tuesday afternoon at Wilkes, leading to a 19-7 non-conference defeat to begin the Macs' five-game road trip.
Richard Fontanillas hit his first home run of the 2019 season in the effort, while
Cameron Delisle,
Connor Blesi and
Greg Dahl each logged two-hit days.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Mighty Macs fell into an early five-run deficit after the first two innings of Tuesday's non-conference tilt before Blesi got IU on the board for the first time in the fourth with an RBI knock to left.
-The Colonels stretched their lead out to seven thanks to a three-run fifth - two of which were unearned. Fontanillas gave the Mac lineup a jolt in the top of the sixth with his first home run of the season - a solo shot to left - to cut the deficit to six.
-Wilkes broke the game open with with a pair of crooked numbers in the sixth and seventh to take a commanding lead late.
-Delisle lined a bases-clearing double in the seventh and pinch-hitter
Zach Smiley drove in a run with a ninth-inning triple to deep center.
