IMMACULATA, Pa. - The second-seeded Immaculata University softball team entered Sunday of the Atlantic East Conference Softball Tournament needing to beat fifth-seeded Wesley twice to advance to next weekend's championship round, but fell to Wolverines 6-2, ending the Macs' 2019 season. Keani Hindle and Ashley Rey both plated runs in the first inning to give the Macs an early advantage, but were held scoreless over the final six innings in the defeat.

The Mighty Macs finished the season with a 26-11-2 overall record - the program's third-straight 20-win season and seventh in the last nine years.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Emily Mesey sparked a first inning rally for the Macs with a one-out triple into the right field corner and came in to score on a Rey ground ball to short, narrowly avoiding the tag at the plate with the game's first run. After Rey moved up to third following a wild pitch, Hindle plated Rey with a ground out to third as the Macs headed to the bottom of the first with a 2-0 lead.
-Wesley answered back in the bottom of the second with a solo home run to cut the deficit in half and the Macs looked poised to add to their lead in following frame, but left the bases loaded to end the top of the third.
-The Wolverines carried that momentum into the home half of the third with a pair of runs to take a 3-2 lead before a two-out, two-run homer in the fourth extended the Wesley lead to three.
-The Immaculata lineup was unable to chip away at the late deficit, and after a fifth-inning insurance run from Wesley, the Wolverines were able to hold on for the 6-2 victory to advance in the Atlantic East Tournament.
