IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University baseball team won its sixth game of its last eight Wednesday afternoon against Haverford behind a brilliant effort from the Mighty Mac pitching staff, as Chris Huyette, Ryan Crowell and Timmy Newell combined to limit the Fords to one run on six hits in the effort. The Immaculata offense was held in check in the early stages of the non-conference bout, but rallied for four runs in the eighth to pull away late.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Huyette was strong from the onset of his second start of the season, holding the Fords hitless through the first two and one-third innings while picking up two of his five strikeouts.
-The Macs were also held at bay by Haverford pitching, as Domenic Dellabarba's second-inning single stood as the lone IU knock through the first four innings. The Fords broke through in the top of the fifth on a bases-loaded walk to plate the game's first run, but the Macs answered right back in the home half when Zach Van Meter also walked to force in a run. Joey Sacco then followed up with a sacrifice fly to center to give the Macs their first lead of the day, 2-1.
-Newell then came on in relief for the Macs in the top of the sixth and shut the door on the Ford offense, scattering three hits over four scoreless innings to keep the Macs in control.
-The Macs struck for four runs in the bottom of the eighth to give Newell some breathing room heading into the ninth, as Stephen Trendler drew a leafoff walk and came around to score on a Cameron Delisle single to left-center. After Delisle came around to score on an error, Kyle Hannon ripped a two-run single to center to extend the IU lead to five.
