BRYN MAWR, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's swimming team was back in action on Saturday afternoon at Bryn Mawr for a tri-meet with Bryn Mawr and Cedar Crest. Despite a number of strong performances, Immaculata fell to both Bryn Mawr and Cedar Crest on Saturday afternoon.
In the 1000-freestyle,
Catherine Wiest had a strong performance finishing in fourth with a time of 12 minutes and 51.53 seconds. Wiest followed this up with another strong fourth-place finish in the 500-free with a time of 6:20.75.
Additionally, Wiest was a member of the 200-free relay squad, which also included Kate Angilechio,
Breanna Katz, and
Elizabeth Herlihey that recorded a fourth-place finish with a time of 2:00.45. This time also sets a new program record beating the previous record time, which was set a week ago by over two seconds.
In the 200 free,
Maya Schilp recorded a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:08.68 before finishing seventh in the 50-free with a time of 35.59 seconds.
In the 50 free, Angilechio recorded the top finish for the Macs with a fifth place finish in 33.91 seconds while Schilp was seventh with Thiel finishing just behind in ninth.
Katz had another strong performance in the 200 IM to finish second with a time of 2:38.23 before also finishing second in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:36.07. This 200-back time also sets a new program record for the Mighty Macs.
In addition to her participation on the record-setting relay team, Herlihey also finished third in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:36.31 before capturing the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:42.39.
In the 100 free, Angilechio recorded another strong finish as she finished in fifth with a time of 1:18.20 while Thiel finished in seventh with a time of 1:26.66.
Immaculata will be back in action next Saturday afternoon at Widener with that dual meet set to begin at 1 p.m.
