ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Immaculata University men's swimming team was back in action on Saturday afternoon at a tri-meet vs Elizabethtown and Goucher. Despite strong performances that saw a school-record fall and numerous personal best performances, Immaculata suffered a pair of setbacks at the hands of the Blue Jays and Gophers.
Jared Truett got things off to a strong star for the Macs with a third-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11 minutes and 54.15 seconds. He would follow this up with a fourth place finish in the 100-breaststroke in 1:10.65 while also turning in a strong performance as a member of the 200-free relay team as the team finished in third with a time of 1:44.39.
In the 200 free,
Conor Farrell got his record-setting afternoon off to a strong start with a third-place finish in a time of 2:00.96 before setting a new record in the 500-free with a second-place finish in 5:22.28.
William Lorenzo also swam well in the 200 free as he finished in eighth with a time of 2:58.37.
Lorenzo followed this up with a pair of seventh-place showings in the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 29.82 and 1:09.16, respectively.
John Batley had another strong afternoon in the pool for the Mighty Macs as he finished third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.57 before capturing the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.19.
David Crowell also swam well as he registered a sixth place finish in the 500 free with a time of 6:19.46 while also finishing fifth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:11.71.
Crowell, Truett, Farrell, and Batley also joined forces for the 200-free relay registering a third-place finish with a time of 1:44.39 to conclude a strong afternoon in the pool for Immaculata.
Immaculata will be back in action on November 9 at Widener for a dual-meet against the Pride beginning at 1 p.m.
