GLENSIDE, Pa.- In its first meet of the new season, the Immaculata University women's swimming team was back in action at Arcadia on Saturday afternoon for a tri-meet with the host Knights and Wilkes. Immaculata fell to Arcadia by a final of 218-29 before falling to Wilkes by a final of 162-44.
In the first event of the afternoon, the 200 medley relay team, which was comprised of
Catherine Wiest,
Elizabeth Herlihey,
Breanna Katz, and
Kate Angelichio turned in a seventh place finish with a time of 2 minutes and 15.56 seconds. This relay squad also finished fifth in the 400-free relay with a time of 4:42.91.
In the 200 freestyle, Katz turned in a strong performance touching the wall in 2:22.95 while Angelichio followed her to the wall with a time of 3:01.15. Katz also recorded a sixth-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:13.20.
In the 100 backstroke,
Maya Schilp turned in a time of 1:35.85 to finish in seventh individually.
In the 50 free, Schilp led a trio of Mighty Macs to the wall as she finished in eighth with a time of 33.10 seconds while Angelichio was ninth in 35.42 seconds, and Thiel was 10
th in 42.02 seconds.
Schilp turned in another eighth place finish in the 100-free with a time of 1:18.61 followed closely by Thiel in ninth with a time of 1:32.91.
In the 200 backstroke, Wiest turned in a strong performance touching the wall with a time of 2:49.31 to finish in seventh place. Wiest also recorded a sixth-place finish in the 500-free with a time of 6:24.76.
In the 200 breaststroke, Herlihey turned in a strong performance of her own finishing in second with a time of 2:43.30. Herlihey followed this up with a strong third-place finish in the 200-yard Individual Medley (IM) with a time of 2:30.53.
Immaculata will be back in action next weekend at Elizabethtown for a tri-meet with the Blue Jays and Goucher beginning at 1 p.m.
