Macs Outpaced by Misericordia Tuesday

Box Score

FORT PIERCE, Fla. -
The Immaculata University baseball team was unable to keep up with a high-powered Misericordia (4-2) offense Tuesday, falling by a final tally of 25-4. Tristan Ryan delivered a three-run double in the seventh to lead the Macs offensively, while lefty Billy Manzo tossed two and one-third scoreless innings in relief with a pair of strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Cougars struck for three runs in the top of the opening frame via a pair of run-scoring singles and an unearned run stemming from the two-hole hitter reaching on an error.
-The Macs answered with a run in the bottom of the first after Stephen Trendler was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Brad Misialek. Justin Dempsey followed with a base knock to bring in Trendler, cutting the deficit to two.
-IU's lone run in the bottom of the first is all they would get until the home half of the seventh, while Misericordia went on to a single run each in the third and fourth before breaking out for a nine-spot in the fifth to make it a double-digit advantage.
-The Macs attempted to claw back by loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh, and pinch hitter Tristan Ryan made the most of his opportunity by lining a three-run double into the left-center gap to cut into the Cougars' lead.
-Misericordia matched the Macs' frame with three of its own in the top of the eighth, followed by an eight-spot in the ninth to put the game out of reach.
