RADNOR, Pa. - The Immaculata University men's and women's swimming programs made their long-awaited debuts Tuesday night against fellow Atlantic East Conference member Cabrini, nearly 13 months after the university announced they would be added as varsity athletic teams.
Elizabeth Herlihey produced Immaculata's first-ever event win, posting a 1:06.98 in the 100-yard butterfly to highlight a historic night in Immaculata Athletics.
"This team deserves all the credit," inaugural head coach
Kathleen Womelsdorf said following Tuesday's meet. "Tonight's meet was something we had circled on the calendar for a long time and to see everyone bring the intensity against the clock all night is a result of all the hard work they have put in to this point. I'm looking forward to seeing the times continue to drop over the course of the season and it's an exciting time for our program."
The Mighty Mac swimming programs are two of four new teams to make their debuts during the 2018-19 academic year.
