Sean Dwyer

Immaculata University Director of Athletics and Recreation, Amy Badorf, announced on Tuesday the hiring of Sean Dwyer as the Head Coach of Esports for the programs inaugural season beginning in Fall 2020.

In the Mighty Macs inaugural Esports season, Coach Dwyer led his team to a 14-23 overall record. In Rocket League team, the program won the first ever Atlantic East Conference Esports Championship after their undefeated run through conference play. Following the conference championship, Coach Dwyer led his team into the Collegiate ESports National Championship tournament where the team lost to Oakland University. In his first season, Dwyer introduced multiple Esports to Immaculata including Rocket League, Madden, League of Legends, and Super Smash Bros.

Dwyer, the 2011 Drexel Alum, joins Immaculata with a wealth of Esport experience having most recently served as a manager with Iconic Esports, which followed a successful stint as the Founder and General Manager of Team Exile. Under his tutelage, Team Exile assembled multiple large rosters including one roster, which featured some of the top Challenger level players in North America while also helping to lead the team to a top-eight finish in the Riot Games’ North American Challenger Series Open Qualifier.

"I am excited and humbled to be joining the talented team at Immaculata as the first Esports coach in the Immaculata University’s history,” began Dwyer. “This is a great opportunity to show Esports potential for competition, inclusion, and personal growth. I look forward to developing a program that current students and alumni can be proud of” concluded Dwyer.

Prior to his time with Team Exile, Dwyer served as a Broadcast Day Production Manager with Warrior E-Sports based out of Dallas, Texas where he helped to facilitate the broadcasting efforts while also serving as the primary observer and broadcaster on weekly League of Legends Tournaments. In addition to his formal experience, Dwyer brings an additional 10-years of experience as co-leader within a 30+ member gaming community.
