READING, Pa.- The Immaculata women's tennis team bounced back from their first defeat of the season with a 6-3 triumph in their first non-conference match of the season on Tuesday afternoon at Penn State-Berks (0-1).

The Mighty Macs (2-1, 1-0 CSAC) were led by two win days from junior
Lauren Degnan, sophomore
Kelly Gross, and junior
Jenna Fratterelli.

The Macs won two of three doubles matches with Degnan and Gross combining in the first doubles position for an 8-2 victory. Fratterelli teamed up with freshman
Caitlin Savage in the first collegiate match of her career and got an 8-1 win in the third spot.

In singles, the Mighty Macs continued to play well picking up four of the six matches. Degnan won 6-3, 6-3 in the first position and senior
Kara Trowbridge defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-4 in the second spot.

Fratterelli battled in a tough three-set match in the fourth singles spot. After losing the first set 6-1, she won the second set 7-6 (7-2) before taking the tiebreaker 10-8.

Gross cruised in the fifth position, 6-0, 6-0, and despite a loss, Savage battled to a third set tie break where she fell 11-9.

The women's tennis team will go back into CSAC play on Thursday at Keystone.
