GLASSBORO, N.J. – Rowan's Ryan Gordon headed in the game-winner at 107:01 in the second overtime to give Rowan University's men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over visiting Immaculata University in the season opener for both schools.
The game was scoreless after 90 minutes of regulation and the first 10-minute overtime period. With 2:59 remaining in the second OT, Rowan back Zack Zahrend sent a cross into the box and Gordon headed it into the left side of the net.
Rowan (1-0) took 21 shots, while Immaculata (0-1) was limited to five opportunities. Profs' goalkeeper Charlie Cunliffe made one save for the shutout. Immaculata keeper Joshua Garcia, making his first collegiate start, stopped eight shots on the Might Macs' net.
The Mighty Macs head to the Swarthmore Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 4-5. On Saturday, Immaculata plays Widener at 2 p.m., and Sunday the Mighty Macs take on host Swarthmore at 3 p.m.
