Sim And Cacchio Selected Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Immaculata University's Andrew Sim and John Cacchio were honored as members of the 2010 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Lacrosse Team as released on July 13.  Sim and Cacchio are two of 12 student-athletes from around the Philadelphia area selected to the academic all-area team. Honorees are voted on by sports information offices at the 28 institutions in the surrounding Philadelphia metropolitan area. 

Sim is a three-time Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area selection, and the Mathematics major from Prospect Park, Pa., is also a four-time all-league academic selection. He has also been recognized three times as a dean's list honoree, and in addition, Sim is also a member of Immaculata University's Undergraduate Honor Society. 

Sim has earned Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Honorable Mention honors during both the 2010 and 2009 seasons. Previously, he was named to the second team All-PAC in both 2007 and 2008. 

On the field, Sim recorded an overall .617 save percentage while allowing 9.47 goals against to help lead the Mighty Macs to the CSAC Tournament for the first time in 2010. Starting all 15 games for Immaculata, Sim tallied a record of 9-6 inside the crease while also amassed 53 ground balls, causing six turnovers and recording two assists. 

This marks Cacchio's first selection to the academic all-area team. The sophomore from Richboro, Pa., has earned CSAC all-academic honors twice and has been selected to the Dean's List during two semesters.

Cacchio earned CSAC honorable mention accolades for the second straight season in 2010 after leading the team in goals (24) and placing third in points (32).

Joining Sim and Cacchio on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Lacrosse Team are Colin Ambler of Drexel, Gwynedd-Mercy's Nick Coan, Kevin Friedenberg from Swarthmore, Dillon Hamill and Max Hjelm of Haverford, Cabrini's Brian Hill and John McSorley, Rob McMullen from Pennsylvania, Peter Slowik of Saint Joseph's and the performer of the year, Brian Karalunas of Villanova.
