PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- For the second season in a row, Immaculata junior midfielder
Kelly Lapp was selected to the
Philadelphia Inquirer Women's Lacrosse Academic All-Area Team for her performance this past season. The 12-member squad is nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of the 29 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
This past season, Lapp set a new school record with 80 points on a program-best 33 assists and 47 goals. She caused 31 turnovers and scooped up 60 groundballs as well as she helped lead the Mighty Macs to their highest ever finish in the CSAC in third place.
For her career, Lapp finished with 202 points, 129 goals, 73 assists, 175 groundballs, and 99 caused turnovers.
She is the first Mighty Mac to be selected Academic All-Area twice and this marks the fourth consecutive season that IU had a representative on the team as Megan Chacosky (2012), and
Katie Cook (2013) also earned the honor.
