Smith, Hueber Earn First Team All-CSAC, Mazzone Takes Second Team

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) released their 2015 Men's Tennis End of Year Awards, as voted upon by the league's head coaches, on Friday morning and four Mighty Macs received recognition from the conference.

Sophomores Stephen Smith and Mark Hueber became the first doubles tandem in Immaculata men's tennis history to earn First Team All-CSAC as they took home the honor for the third doubles spot.  Senior Alessandro Mazzone wraps up his men's tennis career with a Second Team All-CSAC honor in the sixth singles position, and sophomore John Binner earned a spot on the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Smith and Hueber teamed up to go 9-2 overall as a tandem, and 6-1 in conference play.  They have won six consecutive matches and nine of their last ten.  They have conference match victories over every team, except top-seeded Gwynedd Mercy, and they've added non-conference triumphs over Penn State-Brandywine, Bryn Athyn, and Albright along the way.  Their best victory came at home against playoff-bound Cabrini by a score of 8-6.

Mazzone earned Second Team All-CSAC with a strong 6-3 showing this season at the number six singles position.  He went 4-2 in CSAC play and used a six-match winning streak in the middle of the season to solidify the sixth singles spot.  His best victory came on the road at regular season champion Gwynedd Mercy as he came back to win a three-set battle, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.

Binner is the recipient of the CSAC All-Sportsmanship honor after going 4-7 overall this season with a 3-4 record in CSAC play out of the fifth singles spot.

Gwynedd Mercy's Peter Brzezinski took home Player of the Year for the second year in a row, Cabrini's Alijah Broadnax earned Rookie of the Year, and Gwynedd Mercy's Jim Holt was named Coach of the Year.

The Mighty Macs will conclude their season on Tuesday at home when they host Arcadia at 4 p.m.
