ASTON, Pa.- The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) released their Fall 2014 All-Academic Team on Monday afternoon, and for the fourth semester in a row, Immaculata led all conference institutions with 82 student-athletes. The CSAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.20 or higher during their semester of competition, while using a full season of eligibility as determined by the NCAA.
The Mighty Macs also increased the number of student-athletes this year on the CSAC All-Academic Team by nine student-athletes after 73 made the Fall 2013 version of the team.
Immaculata led all institutions with 82 of the 576 honored by the conference, followed by Marywood University (74), Cabrini College (64), Gwynedd Mercy University (53), and Neumann University (53) to round out the top five.
There was strong representation from all seven fall sports teams. All 11 members of the women's tennis team made the All-Academic Team while women's soccer and field hockey each had 15 to tie for the most from a single team. Next, men's soccer, volleyball, and women's cross country all had 13 members each, and men's cross country added two members to get to the CSAC-leading 82 Immaculata student-athletes.
"Each one of these student-athletes should be commended," said CSAC Commissioner
Jennifer Dubow. "It is great to see that so many have excelled not only athletically, but also academically. These student-athletes truly demonstrate the NCAA Division-III philosophy of enjoying a full collegiate experience, and they more than deserve this recognition."
