Seven Baseball Players Tabbed To All-CSAC Team

ASTON, Pa. - The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) announced its 2014 baseball all-conference awards, as voted on by the league's head coaches, on Wednesday morning. Among those receiving honors were seven Mighty Mac players.
 
Junior pitcher Dan Whalen and sophomore relief pitcher Nick Campione were named to the First Team All-CSAC. Senior shortstop Joe DiGiaimo was named to the Second Team All-CSAC.  Senior catcher Patrick Boulware, sophomore outfielder Rob Wallace, sophomore outfielder Rick DiDomenico, and designated hitter Jason McCormick were named to the Honorable Mention All-CSAC while Wallace was also selected to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Whalen and Campione both make their first appearance on an all-conference team. Whalen had the lowest earned run average (2.61) among Immaculata's starting pitchers. He made nine appearances and eight starts for 48 1/3 innings pitched and a 4-0 record. Whalen also led the team with his 52 strikeouts while walking just 13 batters.  His 52 K's also led all pitchers in the CSAC this season.
 
Campione recorded the lowest ERA among all Mighty Mac pitchers this season at 2.17. He appeared in 16 games for 29 innings. While posting a 2-2 record, Campione also recorded seven saves. He had 28 strikeouts and held opponents to a .234 batting average.
 
It's the second-straight season DiGiaimo has been on the Second Team All-CSAC.  He emerged in CSAC play this season with a .333 average against conference opponents, best on the team. Overall, DiGiaimo hit a team-high .333 in 2014 and second on the squad with 10 doubles. The senior was tops on the team in hits (35), RBIs (27) and slugging percentage (.533), and listed third in stolen bases (12).
 
Boulware earned all-league honors for the second-consecutive season. He was a Second Team All-CSAC selection a season ago. He played in 31 games and started 28 during 2014. The catcher was sixth-best on the team overall with a .293 batting average.  Boulware was second-best on the team with a .435 slugging percentage and stole 10 bases.  Boulware led the team with 11 doubles and had one triple along with 10 RBIs.
 
Wallace followed up his Honorable Mention All-CSAC campaign last season earning the selection once again as well as the CSAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Overall, he hit .305 and had six doubles, one home run and 19 RBIs.  Wallace stole eight bases on the season and scored 20 runs while collecting 29 hits.
 
DiDomenico was named Honorable Mention All-CSAC for the first time in his career. The outfielder solidified the second spot in the order with a .299 batting average. He had a .469 on-base percentage 10 walks and 22 hit-by-pitches. He drove in 19 runs while scoring 32.
 
McCormick served as the Mighty Macs' designated hitter during his rookie campaign. He hit .267 with 20 hits, 15 walks and 25 runs scored. He also had 10 RBIs.
 
The Mighty Macs finished the regular season 20-12 overall and 11-7 in league play, and Immaculata enters the CSAC Championship as the field's third seed. Immaculata begins action in the CSAC Championship Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. traveling to second-seed Gwynedd Mercy University.
